Young Love

“If I only knew your name I’d go from door to door,
Searching all the crowded streets for the face that I once saw”

This post’s TUNE comes from The Mystery Jets.  What a lovely little band that you just don’t seem to hear of anymore, are they still going?  Please let me know, I used to love them!  This tune featured Laura Marling, who has just the most beautiful voice, so even if you just like them, give it a listen for that!  Some of their songs sound quite 80’s (which is more than alright by me), and all others are essentially just really catchy tunes.  You can listen to this song here and visit their website here.

Ok, lets get an outfit on...

I am seriously loving the hippy gypsy skirts at the minute, and am also very grateful that these are a must have this summer; there are many reasons for this:

  1. It’s still f*ckin’ freezing (pardon my French... or just general bad language to be honest), so a long skirt with at least cover up my cold legs.
  2. Despite spending two weeks in hot sunshine I am still amazingly white.  When your legs start reflecting the sunlight you know you have a problem....
  3. I appear to have a massive bruise on my knee.  Now, I don’t know if my tiny little brain didn’t pick up on the pain that surely must have happened when I smacked my knee into something or if in my sleep I decided to jump out of bad, landing smack on the floor and skidding along in rock star style.  The latter seems a bit far-fetched, so I’m going to have to assume that my brain is in fact pea sized and cannot cope with two things at once.... seems reasonable.
So yes, as you can see, I am most grateful for the whole gypsy skirt trend that is floating around for this summer, especially when Primark (my dear, beloved Primark), produces such lovely skirts for such lovely prices, this one being only ten pounds.

As seems usually the case these days, the rest of my outfit is also from Primark (shit shock horror)!  I bought the jumper for a measly six quid, then proceeded to knot it up at the front, which I really like, tuff boobies if no one else does.  Then I wore it with my Primark Moccasins, Primark denim jacket and Primark bangles....
I’m still waiting for some serious sponsorship from Primark here; they do literally get mentioned every 2 seconds!

To break up the monotony of this one company (Primark... said it again, damn), I added on my Camden satchel (well worn), Topshop cross earrings; Bee-Jewels necklace which was kindly sent to me a while back and I have finally gotten round to demonstrating it’s reversibility (see post here); and my vintage brooches which I picked up in Cardiff’s Jacob’s Market a while ago.

This outfit makes me feel like its summer... walking outside doesn’t; but hey, we can always wander round the house in it whilst staring at the sunshine, safe in the knowledge that inside = warm, outside = freeze your nuts off (not literally, I have no nuts...).

Hope you all had a good weekend!

  14. You look fab, want your hair, always looks perfect :-) Love this look too - really like that you have knotted the jumper, looks great! Got to love a maxi skirt, I was rocking mine this weekend too, perfect for the sun but keeps the Scottish chill out too (and hiding the goosepimpled legs) :-) Random fact for you about the Mystery Jets...they are still around and are playing the St Andrews grad ball this year. One of my friends is playing in another band that night and happened to mention them on Sunday AND I hadn't heard of them in ages and was wondering where they disappeared too, so great minds and there you go!
