Wolf like Me

“Say say my playmate,
Won't you lay your hands on me”

This post’s TUNE comes from TV on the Radio.  I’ll be honest here, I don’t know much of their music, but what I do know, is that this song is absolutely amazing.  It was recommended to me by someone quite a while ago and as soon as I heard it, it was instantly addictive.  I would highly recommend you checking this song out, which you can do so here, and visit their myspace here.

Here we go again...

Blouse: New Look (old)
Waistcoat: River Island (old)
High Waist Shorts: MissSelfridge (old)
Tights: Primark (old)
Boots: New Look (old)
Bag: Miss Selfridge (old)
Watch: Urban Outfitters (old)

So I realise I said I was going to do two outfit posts a week, one on Tuesday and the other on Sunday, but I lied...  Well not so much lied, actually, I just didn't have the other post ready and this one just happened to be good to go so here it is.

This blouse is yet another one of those items I found lurking at the back of my wardrobe (well technically under my bed, but you know what I mean).  It’s a gorgeous pussy (*snigger*) bow tie blouse which you see cropping up in the shops evey now and again, and I just love it.    The material is a bit see through so you need a top to go underneath but this is fine by me, as it seems like pretty much every top I own is made out of that same sheer material.  Oh dear, that doesn’t make me sound too good does it, it implies that I own alot of exposing clothes... I don’t ok!

Anywho, I decided to tuck my blouse in to my good old Miss Selfridge high waist shorts which are an essential in my wardrobe and added my old River Island waistcoat.  I didn’t go made with the accessories as I think this is quite a pretty outfit and would best quite simple.

Finally I stuck on my lovely heeled boots so I can be just that bit taller, a pair of black tights and Bob’s your  uncle, job done.

In other news, over the past week or so I’ve been going nuts buying loads of picture frames and wall art in preparation to tart up my little home, I have an idea in my head of what I want, but finding just the right things, and for not an extortionate price is quite difficult.  I want some of my own drawings up on the wall, along with some prints and paintings, but I’m having trouble finding just the right things.  Over the coming weeks I’ll give a little glimpse into how it’s all coming along.

If anyone has any ideas for my little house, or knows where I can find some interesting artwork then please let me know!

Thankfully tomorrow is Friday, therefore the weekend is almost here, so I can get cracking on some more little bits and pieces.

Have a nice weekend everybody!

Oh and also, please let me know what you think of the colourful text, is it annoying or does it give something a bit different to my blog?  I’m getting a bit bored with the look so I thought I could start experimenting again.

Hounds of Love

When I was a child:
Running in the night,
Afraid of what might be

This post’s TUNE comes from Kate Bush.  This song is cracking on a bit now admittedly, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less amazing.  This song has also been covered by The Futureheads which some of you may have recognised more, or maybe not, either way this was originally sun by Kate Bush and this is by far (in my opinion) then better version.  Completely pointless bit of information here, but my first ever dog was named after Kate Bush, obviously my parents picked the name as I wasn’t even born then, she was a bulldog, ah Katie, bless her.

Please check it out and give the song a listen here and visit her website here.

Righteo....

Disco Pants: Boutique in Liver pool (old)
Top: New Look (sale, £7.00)
Jacket: New Look 915 (£14.99)
Daps: Primark (£3.00)
Back Pack: Primark (£9.00)
Watch: New Look (old)

I love this outfit, there’s not alot to it, but I think it’s awesome.

Once again, I’ve broken out the disco pants, they’re just like Pringles, once you pop you just can’t stop... Or so they say...  Anywho, after finding my love for the disco pants again I decided to mix them up in a totally different way which is alot more casual.

As these beauties are high waisted it means I can get away with wearing my lovely sale New Look tie top and not expose my stomach to the world, I don’t know how comfortable I’d feel with my midriff hanging out...  or anyone else around me for that matter.  So I’m more than happy to be wearing a crop top as long as my trousers/skirt/whatever else comes up to meet it instead... there is some kind of logic there somewhere...

Now, I could have glammed this up with a pair of fancy heels, but thats not really me, I can barely walk in flats, lets not add high heels to the mix; so I decided to opt for my good old (now not quite as white) daps from Primark.

This seemed like the perfect opportunity to break out my new baseball jacket, as I haven’t really had any outfits to wear it with and since I bought it a few weeks ago I think it’s starting to feel neglected.  This jacket is actually New Look 915, which you guessed it, is New Looks kids wear.  I’m not ashamed to say I buy children’s clothes, and size 12-13 at that, hell, they are alot cheaper and sometimes fit better than my own size... go figure.  This jacket only cost £14.99, but to buy it in Topshop for extremely similar is around fifty quid... you do the maths, I know what I would rather pay!

So yup, finally, I stuck on my back pack, my watch that is far too big for my child like wrists and off we went.  When I say ‘we went’, I mean we went on a trip down to Cardiff to have a little walk around the park with our little doggy whereby we were stopped every 20 seconds by someone who wanted to come and see him because he is so damn Cute, don’t believe me?  Well, judge for yourselves... I blinkin’ love him:

That’s all for now people, hope you have all had an awesome bank holiday!

Anyone Who Knows What Love Is

“Oh but anyone,
who knows what love is,
will understand...”

This post’s TUNE comes from Irma Thomas.  You may not be familiar with this song, I certainly wasn’t until a few months back, but since discovering it I can’t stop listening (not literally can’t stop otherwise I would find myself constantly being plugged into my ipod/laptop etc, and therefore would have extreme difficulty in living my life...).  This song is definitely cracking on a bit, I could give you an exact year of release but I don’t know and cannot be bothered to look it up, but it’s most definitely old.  I first heard it on one of the Charlie Brooker Black Mirror episodes (which I think you can still watch on 4OD, they are soooo good), and just fell in love with the tune.

Please listen to this beautiful tune here, and have a little look at the website here.

Anyone who knows what fashion is....

Shirt: Tesco (old)
Disco Pants: Boutique in Liverpool (old)
Cardi: Tesco (old)
Boots: New Look (old)
Chain: Dorothy Perkins (old)
Bag: Primark (old)

Phew, as I was typing out my outfit details I was getting worried there was nothing from Primark, but then I got to the bag so it’s all good!

Is it me or is this outfit very LLYMLRS?  If you don’t know who she is go and check here out, she’s pretty big in the blogging world don’t you know!  It’s essentially monochrome leggings and a shirt, I definitely think this would be her style, not that I’m wearing it just for that reason, it’s just a coincidence okay, don’t start judging me... gawd!

Anywho, after being reunited with the disco pants (I had forgot they existed inside my wardrobe), I figured I needed to give them a wear and this is what I decided to pair them with.  I love this shirt, it has a waterfall back and pretty gold collar tips which I think sets it off just enough that you could get away with wearing it both in the day or on an evening out.  To break up the solid black I added my box jacket style Tesco cardigan and then paired this with my heeled New Look studded boots.

Admittedly this outfit isn’t very summery but lets face it, this is Wales, so on that days when I’m freezing my little bum off this outfit will be absolutely perfect!

So this week hasn’t been overly exciting, been busy working and drawing for some pictures for my house so I can have some unique art on the walls... how lovely.

What you been up to, let me know, drop me a line, leave me a comment, hell you can even tweet me.... please tweet me, I need  followers.... Desperation is not a good look!

Maybelline Super Stay Concealer: A Review

As promised I appear to be going through my makeup bag giving you a lowdown and review on pretty much every item in it.

Today item: Maybelline Super Stay Concealer

I have used the same type of concealer since using makeup, the good old cover up stick.  However, given my recent over haul of my beauty products I decided to have a go at a liquid concealer instead, namely Maybelline’s Super Stay Concealer.

I’ll start off by saying I’m not exactly blown away by this product, it’s probably average at best.

The concealer has a liquid/cream texture that isn’t too thick and actually goes on quite nicely; it doesn’t feel heavy on your skin and blends in quite well and I would say matches my skin tone perfectly, I used #2 Light Beige.

However... Given that this is a concealer, I do find that it doesn’t exactly do much concealing and you can still clearly see any blemishes that you were initially trying to cover up.  It’s not exactly totally transparent but it does seem like that cream isn’t thick enough to cover anything sufficiently.

The product comes in a tube with an application wand with a spongy tip.  I do quite like the applicator as it does allow you to apply the product exactly where you want it, providing you wipe off the excess in the tube before applying as it turns out a little bit goes a long way.

I would also say that the product doesn’t last very long and will rub off quickly through the day, and by the time it comes to take my makeup off there is hardly any product left on.

I do normally love all Maybelline products and will still continue to use the brand, but I would not buy another one of these concealers as it doesn’t do a good enough job in covering up my blemishes.  I do however, quite like the liquid concealer and so will be trying this in another brand.

Generally, not the worst concealer I’ve ever used but definitely not up to scratch.

Buh Bye,

Me, Myself and I

"Mirror, Mirror on the wall,
Tell me, mirror what is wrong"

This post’s TUNE comes from De la Soul.  This is a one off song me for, in the sense that I know nothing else of De La Soul and have never knowingly heard any other of their songs.  However, I still think this is a great tune, obviously, as I have it listed here, and have decided to share it with you.  It’s a weird one, I have such an eclectic musical taste and so many songs I love that sometimes it’s hard to pick which one to share, but I guess it’s whatever I’m listening to right now, and this tune is it!
That is all.

Please have a little look at the video here and check out their website here.

Onwards and upwards...

Skirt: Primark (£6.00)
Blouse: Primark (old)
Shoes: Primark (old)
Bowler Hat: H&M (old)
Bag: Primark (£6.00)
Bracelet: Topshop (old)

So as you may have noticed the weather seems to have remarkably improved and so I am feeling summery, hence the summery outfit.  If you can believe it, it was actually warm at the end of last week, and so I had to take advantage of this fact by wearing my lovely little holiday skirt and getting myself out in the sunshine.

Last week was a good week mainly because I spent only 3 days in work, and quite frankly the less time spent in work the better!  The reason why it was a 3 day week was because me, my sister (bad English) and my wee little doggy George took a road trip down to Weymouth to visit my parents who were on holiday down there for a week.  We only spend one night down there but I loved it and remembered all the reasons why I love Weymouth and the south of England so much... because it’s so damn pretty... Oh and it’s warmer and rains less (although anywhere rains less than Wales).  Anywho, it was a nice little break and the sun was shining the entire time so happy days!

Anywho, back to my outfit...  I love this little skirt, it’s so pretty and dainty with its little navy and white heart print and cute little belt (how patronising does that sound, can you be patronising about clothes?), and goes just lovely with my rather see through white blouse which of course needs a vest top underneath as to not expose myself to the world.

I popped on a pair of old peep toe shoes which I found hiding in the back of my wardrobe, stuck on a bowler hat (as you do on a warm day?!?!) and brought out my new Primark bag again for a bit of random colour.

How summery!  Of course it would be more summery if I hadn’t put a bowler hat with it, but I like it so whatever!

On a different note, I’ve decided on a new format for the way I post.  I am now going to post only on set days, which will be Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, with two outfit posts a week and one random one of whatever I feel like talking about.  I like a good bit of organisation and this way I feel like my blog will be perfectly organised...  You may not give a rats bum about when I post, for maybe just maybe there is one person out there who is interested and they will be very happy to know the routine...  I thank you!

Needy Girl

When you're home alone, you don't answer the phone, alright.

But it's like a crime if I don't answer mine tonight

This post’s TUNE comes from Chromeo.  This duo used to be one of my favourites, hell they still are!  With a mixture of electronic and funk all their songs are just incredibly catchy and set them apart from anything I have heard.  This song is particularly good, which is why I picked it, not as a cry for help, just letting you know.
Please check out the video here and have a sneak peek at their website here.

Moooooooving on...

Dungarees: New Look (£22.99)
T Shirt: Primark (£3.00)
Daps: Primark (£3.00)
Backpack: Primark (£9.00)
Bracelets: Topshop/New Look (old)

When I took these it was actually sunny outside and I could comfortably go out with my wee white legs exposed and not be cold.  Of course the weather has changed since then and until it changes back I will not be stepping outside my door without being fully wrapped up.

But I digress...

The dungarees were bought a while back just before everyone started wearing them (everyone!) ready for holiday (see my post on my holiday packing here) and they did well to serve their purpose.  I was hopeful that I would be able to continue to wear them back home but other than this one occasion the weather has made good and sure that these lovely dungarees remain tucked away neatly in my wardrobe, boooo!

I think it’s a bit difficult to style a pair of dungarees as alot of tops just don’t look right underneath, but I do think that this one (also bought for holidays), goes perfectly, and as an added bonus has Jimi Hendrix on it, so it’s all good in the hood.

To go nicely with my t shirt and dungarees combination I stuck on a pair of good old white daps.  I don’t think there has been a summer as far back as I can remember where I haven’t had a pair of white daps, and with them only being £3.00 in Primark you can’t really go wrong.  It’s quite handy that they are so cheap as I don’t know about anyone else but my white daps just don’t seem to stay white...

The final accessory is my multi-coloured backpack which I absolutely love but is totally impractical as a backpack as you can’t put much in there as the handles or anything else will slowly start to tear.  So no loading my bag up with the same old crap as I normally do then.  Of course, as I like the bag and it looks pretty I can forgive it and will aim to leave behind some of my crap in order for it to live a bit longer.

Finally, look how much my hair has grown!  I can now tie it up in a pony tail, albeit with the help from a couple of clips but I do love being able to just stick it up and not have to blow dry it.  I have been guilty of going to work every day for the past few weeks with this hair style.  (Lazy Cow!)  I can’t remember the last time it was actually this long (I know it’s not exactly down my back but for me this is long), and I’m not sure really what I want to do.  I think I may continue to grow it for another few months or maybe until the end of the year and then one day just go to the hairdressers and have it all hacked back off... Is it weird that I get some sort of satisfaction out of that?  Oh yes it is weird?! oh fair enough...

Anyway, there you go, a summer outfit which is kind of ironic given the sh*t  weather.  Ah well....

I’m Ready for My Close Up #3

Here we are again with another portrait and therefore close up of my face.  The Joy haha.

I hate to break with tradition so I may aswell start off with a little update on my skin, and this time I’m not grumbling (makes a change, my boyfriend will back me up on that on that...).

Anywho, so for what seems like forever I have been having regular bouts of spots which left behind dark red marks, just to serve as a little reminder that they were there, charming.  However, recently, I have had no spots and touch wood (actually doing it right now), it seems like my skin has got a lot better!  Yeyyyy!

I would like to be able to give you an exact solution to my spot problem but there seem to have been many factors which I think have helped and have stopped my spots.  Of course, I’ll still share exactly what has changed because maybe it was just one of these things:

  1. I went on holiday.  Ok, I’m not bragging here, I’m just saying that I went on holiday to a hot country and therefore did not wear any makeup for the entire 2 weeks which I think gave my skin a much needed break from the stuff.
  2. As I was going to a India and it is a high risk for malaria I had to take medication to prevent actually catching said disease.  For this I took Doxycycline for 6 weeks (yup, six whole weeks!).  Now, I think that this is the main reason why my skin has improved, as Doxycycline is an antibiotic which is not only used for the prevention of malaria, but also to treat acne!  Of course medications work differently for everyone, and I was lucky enough to not get any of the side effects (look them up before you go abroad as light sensitivity is one), but I do think that this antibiotic has cleared up my skin, and it’s effects seem to be continuing.
  3. I changed my pill to Co-cypriniol, which again was originally used as an acne medication but was found to work also as a contraceptive.
  4. Every day I now use a face scrub whilst in the shower, alternating between two different ones but both of the same brand (St Ives to be exact), I’ll talk more about these in a different post.
So as you can see there does seem to be a lot of factors involved in my skin getting better.  Not only have the breakouts stopped but also, the marks left from previous spots are also slowly disappearing.

Obviously my skin still isn’t perfect but it is now a lot better.  I accept that my skin will never be perfect and I will still probably get spots at some point, but right now it’s a million times better and I’m happy with it.

If you want any more information about what has been helping my skin then just get in touch, happy to help!

Buh bye,
