I Heart Christmas: A Review

Angela’s planning her very own fairytale of New York…
• Enormous Christmas tree
• Eggnog
• Eccentric British traditions
• Gorgeous man
But Santa’s throwing her a few curveballs – new job (as if it’s not mental enough already), new baby-craze from her best friend Jenny, and Alex determined they should grow up and settle down. Once friends start turning up uninvited on her doorstep (and leading her astray), can Angela really have a merry little Christmas? So much for happy holidays – something’s got to give…

I know what your thinking, shes gone mad, Christmas is long gone...  Well, I guess your right in both respects, Christmas has indeed passed and I am somewhat mad, although not in a weird dangerous joining a cult kinda way, no just a ditzy, slightly odd kinda way.

Anywho, having bought this book for Christmas, no matter how good I am at reading (I can proudly say I've definitely passed age 5 now), this review was always gonna come after Christmas; and just as a bit of a heads up, I do have another Christmas book which I'll be reviewing shortly too.  Just want you to be prepared for that one.

So, it's safe to say I'm a Lindsey Kelk fan, I've read pretty much all the 'I Love... ' series (other than I Heart Paris, but I'm working on that one), and I do love them so.  She rates alongside Jenny Colgan and Belinda Jones, who no, may not be changing the world with their literay skills, do actually make me laugh out loud whilst reading a book, and that my friends is a skill indeed.  Think to yourself how often you have ever laughed at a book, not many, although to be fair, it's pretty embarrassing to be sitting in public and start chuckling to yourself, you will find that people move away from you whilst deliberately avoiding eye contact... not that I would know that... haha, ummmmm.

Yup, so just like all the rest of the series this book is based around Angela Clark and her lovely friends, all of whom I feel like I know pretty well now given the amount of time I have dedicated to reading this mini series,  I've become somewhat attached.  Unlike the others, this is based around Christmas time, and we follow Angela as things, as they usually do, start to go array around her.

This is a pretty easy read, it's my 'bit of fluff' as I would call it, something to entertain you and make you smile, a welcome break sometimes for reading books that actually make you cry (see my last review... weepy).  Like I said, no literary boundaries have been broken here but I can't fault this book or Lindsey Kelk herself, she seems like my kind of woman, and I always think if I was to write a book it would be of this style.  Ooh, I would love to write a book, but tha'ts by the by.

I would definitely recommend this book, and recommend that you go ahead and buy the other in the series too (you need to start with I Heart New York).

Let me know if you have read this book or any others in the series, do you love them as much as I do?

I give this book:

You can buy this book on Amazon here, and check out the author here.

  1. I've read all the books in this series but was quite skeptical about buying this book because I felt that everything was kind of tied up in the last one. However, over Christmas I was in some desperate need of some literary Christmas spirit and so I bought this. I actually really enjoyed it! Probably not my favourite out of the series but I still liked it! I can't wait for Lindsey Kelk's future novels! x
