Chop and Change

Before I left to go on holiday I had been growing my fringe out and over to the side so it would be long enough for me to pin back.  I dunno about anyone else, but I find that although a fringe is good over here, on holiday it becomes a right royal pain in the ass; if you left it down it goes greasy and sticks to your sweaty forehead or if you do want to pin it back it just not quite long enough.  By now you’re either thinking, ‘oh yes, I totally agree’ or ‘oh my god, the greasy sweaty little blighter, I couldn’t bear to hear any more’.  If your reaction is the latter, then I can only apologise, but I can’t do nowt about being hot on holiday ok.

I had been growing my fringe out since about November and it had grown quite a lot, down past my nose, which is pretty good for me, normally, I hate leaving my fringe grow.  However, since coming back I couldn’t wait to get it all chopped off.  Initially I was gonna take a wee trip to the hairdresser and get a bit of a trim and have a full fringe cut in.  However, in a moment of genius (or pure stupidity), I decided to have a go myself, this folks is the result.

I have also dyed it dark brown too as the holiday sunshine had turned my hair a weird combination of light red and ginger  (I personally like ginger hair, but this weird bleached shade was not a good look, trust me).

So what you reckon, should I PUT THAT SCISSORS DOWN, or has my scissor happy moment been ok?  I’m happy with it, and quite frankly there is very little aside from wearing a wig that I can do to rectify the situation if you don’t like it, but still, it’s good to have feedback.

Does anybody else like to have a go at cutting their own hair?

p.s. Don’t forget to follow me on twitter and you can now find me on WIWT.

Stay Scissor happy,

  3. You look lovely, the fringe looks awesome, I'm always too scared to even think about putting scissrs on my hair as it just brings back memories of ten year old me with the crayola scissors...not a good look!

  15. Helen, you've done a fantastic job my love! Your hair looks uber shiny too. :) I cut my own hair too but do the full works, I trim it, layer it and chop in my fringe, I've not been to a hairdresser in years!

I totes get wh you want to pin it back on holiday, I remember when I visited Dubai, my fringe was non existent, the sweat made me it look limp and just gross. I've painted a right good picture of myself there, ha!

  17. You did a fantastic job! Bangs are something I am so finicky about. I'm never satisfied with mine. I am so terrified to cut my own that I'm willing to go pay the hairdresser for a 5 minute trim to them. But last time she did such an awful job I'm considering doing my own next time.
