Sleeping Sickness

“Someone come and, someone come and save my life,
Maybe I’ll sleep when I am dead...”

This post’s TUNE comes from City and Colour, otherwise known as Dallas Green (also known as the singer from Alexisonfire).  His voice is so beautiful that you cannot help but sit there in silence completely and utterly lost in each song (deep man, deep).  Having seen him live I can say that this was the best gig I have ever been to (and I should know, I’ve been to a few), and, as is so very very rare, the man is actually better live than recorded (now that is talent).
Anywho, I’ll stop my wittering on about how much I love City and Colour so you can listen to this song here, and visit the website here.

Fabulous, now let’s move on...

Playsuit: Primark (£5.00)
Cardigan: Primark (£6.00)
Tights: Primark (£2.50)
Boots: Internacionale (old)
Jacket: T K Maxx (old)
Bag: Primark (old)

A few weeks ago I found this playsuit in the sale in Primark (I know, I couldn’t believe Primark could have a sale either!!!), at only a fiver I couldn’t resist.  I didn’t manage to get it in these pics but it’s a black and white bunny pattern all over with really pretty detailing as the peter pan collar has button collar tips.  Obviously as it’s winter it needed a cardi, which I done up on the very first button for a bit of preppy detail, and with a pair of thick tights this is sure enough to keep me warm :)

I can’t believe I’ve been back to work a week now, it’s gone so fast, but the holidays went even faster., especially seen as I spent most of my holidays ill :( boooo!  I’m hoping to book a holiday soon for somewhere nice and sunny to escape the cold and wind for a week or so; when the Christmas holidays pass it just seems like there isn’t anything to look forward to again, so I need to give myself something to look forward to!

Hope everyone is ok and work/school/college/something in between is going well and we’re not too sad because Christmas has gone!

Love love,

Beautiful Things

Sometimes in life you get given something that is just so beautiful you just have to share... So recently I’ve been coming home from work and enjoying a good old cup of tea and biscuit (I’m loving the cookies at the moment, however, other biscuit types are available). I realise that this may be a turning point in my life as old age is most definitely setting in, or maybe not, maybe I just enjoy a good brew.

Anywho, I normally enjoy my tea out of a standard mug and stick my biscuits on the table by the side:

But oh no no no, I don’t want to carry on in such an untimely manner, I want to be a sophisticated lady, and this brings me onto my beautiful thing, a vintage look cup and saucer tea set. I mentioned my fascination with such an item a while before Christmas and as he is such a wonderful man he bought me this as one of my Christmas presents :)

I love it so much I'm too scared to open up the packaging, so sorry about that, but you can see what it looks like below :)

You can get your own beautiful teacup here from John Lewis.

At least now I can sup my tea and biscuits in style!

Stay Cool,

Jungle Drum

"Hey, I’m in love,
My fingers keep on clicking to the beating of my heart...”

This post’s TUNE comes from Emiliana Torrini. And what a beautiful name she has!! So whilst listening to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s on YouTube, this little video popped up on the side, and given her lovely name I thought I’d check it out (yes, I’m that shallow, I’m the type of person who literally judges a book by its cover). I was not disappointed!!! This is such a quirky beautiful little tune, and her voice is absolutely gorgeous, definitely worth a listen, which you can do here. You can also visit her website here.

Hey, I’m in love... with this outfit...

Skirt: River Island (old)
Top: Primark (old)
Belt: Primark (old)
Shoes: Primark (old)
Bag: Peacocks (old)
Coat: New Look (very old!!)

Today, when I took these the sky was grey and it was raining outside, shock horror! So anyway, I thought it might be nice to stick on something slightly summery with a winter twist to help cheer me up on such a drizzly dull day! I’m not normally a fan of big gypsy skirts, but this one I love, I don’t know if it’s because it was free, maybe that helps me love it (my sister gave it to me out of her vast wardrobe), but anywho, this one is bloody lovely, especially the colour. Stick it with a bargain top from Primark and happy days.

Of course, as its winter you do need a lovely coat to keep you warm so I dug out my extremely old fur jacket and stuck that on to keep me toasty (when I say this jacket is old, I remember buying it when I was still in school, and not even sixth form, so about 10/11 years ago...).

So there you go, another outfit, another day!

Stay beautiful people,

I Wish

Sometimes the heart just wants what it wants, and this week my heart really wants a leather dress. A small while ago if anybody had suggested a leather dress I think people would have though “Oh my Christ, what the hell is she wearing”. However, since the likes of TOPSHOP and River Island have decided that its cool and made them into something that is decent to wear it’s now become perfectly acceptable to roam the streets in such a garment and not be considered a lady of the night... and I would really like one, so there.

So in keeping with this I have found some lovely examples of the dress I would like to have, enjoy:

1: River Island, £25.00 (sale)
2: Oasis, £28.00 (sale)
3: Oasis, £140.00
4: Warehouse, £35.00

Cheerio,

Wild Thing

“Wild thing...you make my heart sing...
You make everything Groovy...”

This post’s TUNE comes from none other than The Troggs! Now you may or may not have heard about his band, but if nothing else I really recommend listening to this song here. Yes they may be quite old now, but you can’t deny that this is a hell of a tune, I guess it’s most definitely ‘retro’!

See I knew you’d love it! Groovy baby!

You can visit their website here.

Now, on to more pressing matters....

Skirt: H&M (old)
Belt: H&M (old)
Blouse: Primark (£5.00)
Tights: Primark (£2.00)
Boots: New Look (£19.99)
Satchel: Christmas Prezzy, Cambridge Satchel (old)
Coat: New Look (old)

I haven’t done an outfit post in what feels like forever, hell, I haven’t really done any kind of post, so I thought I’d get off to a good start and hopefully continue well too! I wore this outfit before Christmas on a trip up to London for the day, so I figured I would dig it out, stick it on, take some photos and then put them on here for your viewing pleasure. Let me know what you think!

For Christmas I had a brand new shiny camera, an actual SLR one, I’ve never had one before so I apologise if the photos are a bit ropey for the next few weeks, I’m trying to work out exactly how to use it and having a potch about with all the different settings.

Anywho, hope you’ve all had a lovely holiday, unfortunately it’s back to work for me now, boooo!

Toodle Pip,

New Years Resolutions

Ok, so as some of you may have noticed (or not as the case may be), I haven't posted in quite some time, the plan was to have a little break to finish off my house and sort out Christmas stuff but that little break turned into over a month! Naughty Helen!

But it's all good, I'm back, my house is now finished, sort of, and Christmas has been and gone for another year.  Anywho, now that Christmas is over with we have the next big event New Year!  Now, I'm not going to pretend that I am going to get up to anything exciting on new years, but I will however be joining in the spirit by writing my new years resolutions!

This year my new years resolution is to do/try something new every month!  It's so easy to slip back into routine of just pretty much going from day to the next without anything different going on but this year I plan to change that.  Without trying to sound to deep here, I feel like I'm pretty much just going through the motions at the moment, bed to work and all that so I really want to make sure that I do things that are actually memorable, and I will make sure I share these with you!

I also have a few others, try be more healthy and such but that one is definitely the main one!

Whats your new years resolutions?  And what do you think of mine?

Bye bye 2012, hello 2013!

Peace,

New Year, new look blog!

It's all ok, don't worry, you haven't accidentally clicked a different blog, the same good old Frgaile Bird is here but with a bit of a revamped look!

A few months ago I set up my blog and experimented with a few different looks and settled on the last one, which looked all very pretty and I was happy with it... for a while!  So I like to change my mind a fair bit but I promise that I won't be changing from this one!

This is what my blog used to look like:

So as pretty as the last one was it was a little bit too girly for me, and if you know me you'll know that's definitely not me!  I've always loved the whole 50's thing and  especially pin up girls, so naturally I decided this is the way my blog should look...

and voila, here it is!!

So let me know what you think, I hope you like it!

Peace and Love Little Ones,
