Specsy

I was contacted recently by Firmoo about owning and reviewing another pair of their lovely glasses.  As I already own one pair and use them for everything that I need my eyes fully functioning for, I was more than happy to receive another pair of lovely specs.

On Thursday, after only being contacted and choosing my specs a few days before, I received my glasses in the post, I was very excited to open them and was definitely not disappointed.  In my little package was the following:

My chosen glasses, an kit for any tightening of the screws etc, and two glasses cases, both of which are such good quality, and as with the last pair of glasses, I will be putting these to good use.

These are the glasses I picked, you can find them here.

I'm so happy with my glasses, which don't feel as big as the last pair (as I mentioned in my last related post, I normally wear teenagers glasses as I think I may have a very small head to contain my particularly small brain), and I have been wearing them for pretty much everything.  It's suprising what you can see when your eyes are fully functioning...

Anywho, the glasses are extremely good quality, considering they are only $33.00, they certainly don't look it, and could easily be mistaken for an expensive designer pair which cost ridiculous amounts.  Also, given their shape I can wear them for long periods of time without them leaving marks either side of my nose which is what all of my others specs seem to do.

Finally, I really love the colour of these glasses, tortoise shell.  I would normally love to wear black frames but they just don't suit me, but the colour of these looks just right if I do say so myself.

To sum up, I would like to say I love my glasses and just to prove it I have taken a few snaps of them in some of my upcoming outfit posts, look at me being all nice giving you a sneak peek.

Thumbs up to Firmoo, I will continue to wear my specs forever, or until my eyes probably get worse...  All I need now is a pair of prescription sunglasses for summer... ah, one can only dream of seeing all the detail of the sunny landscapes through a pair of sexy sunglasses!

p.s. Firmoo offer a Free for First Time Buyers service, which you can find out about here.

Stay Specsy,

March of the Pigs

“I want to break it up I want to smash it up I want to f*ck it up
I want to watch it come down...
”

This post’s TUNE comes from Nine Inch Nails.  I told you I had eclectic taste in music, and I think this proves it, but what amazing taste it is right?!? (agree with me, it will be easier in the long run).  Anywho, I think this song is just so so good, it’s a little heavy if you’re not into this kind of thing, but you should give it a go because everyone should have a bit of Nine Inch Nails in their life!  So please check out the music video to this song here, and have a little looksie at their website here.

It’s all gone a bit hard core there, bringing it back...

Shirt (with vest top underneath): New Look (old)
Skirt: Select (Christmas Prezzie)
Tights: Primark (£2.50)
Boots: New Look (Christmas Prezzie)
Leather Jacket: NewLook (old)
Bag: Miss Selfridge (old)

Do I look like a little punk emo kid? Do I care? No.  I love the skirt, the studded collar and the heeled boots, and I think it works quite well together so happy days.  Considering I had both the boots and the skirt for Christmas I think I’ve only worn them on one other occasion before this, shameful!  I promise I will try to wear them more!

Anywho, this is my pleather (?) oxblood, skirt, get me pretending like I know my fashion sh*t!  I know the whole oxblood thing was sooooo last year dahlin’ (uch), but who gives a damn, fashion is so throw away, why do we spend all this money on it if we only ever wear it a few times, I intend to continue wearing whatever I want from my wardrobe no matter what.  Obviously if I like something on trend in the shops I will buy it but I certainly never by anything because it’s ‘in’ right now.

Phew, would you look at that for a rant...

Glad to get that off my chest, I know you were glad to hear it....

Hope you’ve had a lovely week!

Over and Out,

Money Supermarket Passion For Fashion

Recently I was contacted about entering the Moneysupermarket Passion for Fashion Challenge.  I did enter last year, but alas, like many others I’m sure, I was unsuccessful... But that’s not putting me off because I love doing stuff like this so here we go again.

There are three categories this year: Beach, Casual and Party, and three judges: Natasha from Girl in the Lens, Jen from A Little Bird Told Me and Olivia from What Olivia Did who will be judging each category respectively.  Each outfit must be complete for under £200.00 and you can find all the details you need here.

And here folks are my entries:

Beach

This one seems very appropriate given that I will indeed be sunning myself on the beach soon, so have had plenty of time to think about exactly what I will be wearing whilst lying on the beach soaking up the sun.

This my dears is my dream beach outfit:

Total: £163.00

Dungarees: Topshop (£38.00)
T Shirt: Topshop (£12.00)
Rucksack: Accessorize (£32.00)
Sunglasses: Accessorize (£15.00)
Bikini Top: River Island (£20.00)
Bikini Bottom: River Island (£14.00)
Bracelet: Accessorize (£8.00)
Sandals: Topshop (£24.00)

I have a pair of dungarees to take with me on hols and I'm so excited to wear them!  Their such a good alternative to the standard pair of hot pants I usually find myself in, and they just look so damn retro.  However, as I have discovered whilst trying to find somoething to go under them it is particularly tricky to find anything that looks quite right, but I have discovered that a plain tee with rolled sleeves goes just perfectly... ahhh, I do love a good rolled sleeve so I do!

As I've said before, I hate flip flops so a pair of sandals is necessary, and these ones are just gorgeous, look at them... now look again... see their lovely aren't they!

Finally, as it's beach wear a bikini was not just nice but necessary, as is a pair of sunglasses, backpack to put all your beach essentials in and a token bracelet to give that beach hippy look.

Happy days!  I cannot wait to hit the beach!

Casual

I’m definitely more of a day time wear girl rather than evening stuff, so I’m more than happy to have had to plan an everyday outfit.

I am indeed loving the pinafore style that is everywhere right now, so I fidured I would plan my outfit around one of these little beauties, so...

Total: £131.99

Tights: Matalan (£3.50)
Pinafore Dress: River Island (£22.00)
Leather Loafers: ASOS (£40.00)
Blouse: New Look (£16.99)
Bag: Accessorize (£45.00)
Earrings: Matalan (£2.00)
Bow Brooch: Topshop (£2.50, sale)

Keeping it monochrome, keeping it on trend, but still keeping it exactly my style.  These pinafore dresses couldn't be more my style if the tried, I absolutely love them!  I prefer a plain style pinafore so you can dress it up or down as you wish depending on what you wear underneath, and in this case I have gone for a polka dot blouse.

Along with a pair of tassel loafers (these ones happen to be real leather so I think are well worth the money) and a little bow brooch which I would pin on the top button of the shirt, I think this is a very vintage look, sooooo perfectly me!

To accessorise I have just chosen a simple pair of pearl earrings and a beautiful black and white bag, which I had previously been admiring in a different colour, but I thought this just matched unbelievably.

Ahhhhh, I want it all, bye bye money in bank account....

Party

Obviously, despite the fact that I love day wear more, every now and again I do love to get all dressed up and go into town for a few beverages.
Is it weird that when I go out I like to have a hint of a theme going on, most of the time I’ll go out and say to my friends “this is my X look”, bit weird I know... But in light of this...

This is my Sixties Look:

Total: £115.39

Dress: Miss Selfridge (£39.00)
Shoes: Debenhams (£24.00, sale)
Bag: Mango (£29.99)
Earrings: Dorothy Perkins (£6.50)
Eye liner: Rimmel Via Boots Exaggerate Eye liner: Black (£4.29, currently on offer)
Lipstick:Rimmel Via Boots Kate Moss Matte Lipstick, 113 (£5.49)
Nail Polish: Rimmel Via Boots 60 Seconds Nail Polish: Red Carpet (£2.99, on offer)
Hairspray: Boots Tressmme Superior Hold (£3.13, on offer)

I saw this dress in Miss Selfridge the other day and I just fell in love with it.  Given my bob and flickety side fringe and my complete love of eyeliner, I figured this would be the perfect sixties look, and who doesn’t love the sixties!  Plus, given the monochrome colours its bang on trend for this season... look at me being all fashion forward (well trying anyway).

Despite the cold this outfit would have to be braved bare legged (or maybe given my daz white ones, with clear tights), because without this the whole look is going to fall apart... nooooooo!

To go with the theme I thought these super cute block heeled court shoes were needed.  I am not really a high heeled kind of girl, and plus they look perfect with my outfit as they don’t distract from the main piece which is my beautiful dress.

A small patent bag to accessorise looks just right along with deep red nails to add a splash of colour with statement sixties eye makeup and nude lips I think completes this look.

I've deliberately not added many accessories because I really don't think it needs it, I'm keeping it simple, I'm keeping it sixties!

Oh god, I think I love this outfit... I hope you do to!

Let me know what you think, would you wear any of these looks and which is your favourite?

Peace and Love,

Holiday Packing Part 2: Rhythm of the Night

Naturally, as the title suggests this is the second part of my holiday packing snap shots... this time it’s all about the night wear, and I’m not talking about PJ’s here!

So essentially I normally just go for dresses for night wear or a smarter short and tops kind of look, and this is what I will be taking:

 Sandals: Primark (£8.00)
I hate flip flops as we learnt yesterday, but I do like sandals, as long as nothing has to go between my toes then I’m happy (this isn’t for any weird reason, I just hate the feel of it, so ucomfortable.  I love the little detailing at the front of these with the stud edging, will be perfect with whatever I wear.

Dress: Various (old)
Essential evening wear, bringing a bit of sophistication to the place... or at least trying to.

Bag: Primark (old)
Us young ladies need a bag, we have all manner of things to go in there, so this one is perfect.

Skirt: Primark (£6.00)
I think this is such a cute little skirt and will look so cool with a little white top, good old primark.

I prefer day time clothes to evening ones, this is pretty much in general, but I do like to get a little bit more dressed up in the night so these items aren’t just nice but necessary.

Other than clothes I also have all manner of accessories, toiletries, makeup and you name it, I’ve got it kind of items, so I’m pretty much set :)

I’ve been off for the past 2 days for a lovely long extended weekend, which is great right up until Monday morning when it’s even worse going back into work!

Hows everyone going to be spending their weekend?

Ta ra,

Holiday Packing Part 1: Day Tripper

I personally love packing my suitcase for holidays, does this make me weird?

Don’t answer that.

Ok, so whilst I have been packing up my suitcase ready for happy holidays I decided to take a few photos and give you some idea of what I will be taking.
I love layering clothes and a coat is always an essential with my outfits, so it’s a bit weird to not have to have stuff like that at hand, but at the same time it’s so good to be able to chuck on an easy outfit and lay back in the sun.
So this my friends is some of my day essentials for holidays...

Dungarees: New Look (£22.99)
Ahhhhhh, I think I’m fighting getting old and attempting to revert back to being a child, I’ve wanted a pair of these for aages, and when I saw this little pair in New Look I knew I had to have them!

Hot Pants: Primark (£12.99)
Above all else, you cannot go on holiday without a pair of hot pants (unless you are male, then you are excused as you will look slightly odd).  I do have a few pair of hot pants, but my good old faithful plain Topshop ones feel a tad too big on me at the moment, so when I saw these ones in Primark, I knew they were destined to come away with me.

Beach Hat: Primark (£4.00)
I really wanted one of these this year for holidays, it’s not usually something which I would take, but as it’s meant to be extremely hot and it’s good for protecting your shoulders and face I thought it would be quite sensible.  Plus it looks good.

Flip Flops: Primark (£1.50)
Oh how I hate flip flops.  They are another one of those items that ordinarily you will never ever see me in, I hate how when you walk they smack the back of your feet and then make that horrible sucker noise as they peel off your sticky feet... But they’ll do for holidays.

Bikinis: Primark/Dorothy Perkins (old)
A nice little selection of bikinis because I need  to get sun on my pasty little body and I think I might get some weird looks if I get in the pool in full dress.

Backpack: Primark (£9.00)
I fell in love with this satchel when I saw it sitting in Primark for the bargain price of £9.00! It’s perfect for chucking the essentials in and going exploring!

Sunglasses: River Island (old)
Ah I have had this pair for a while and still never get old of them, they are UV protected or whatever the hell sunglasses are supposed to be, so check when your buying them, cheap ones can sometimes be even worse for your eyes!  God, how helpful am I?!?

Playsuit: Primark (£5.00)
What a bargain! Only £5.00! Perfect to take down to the beach and wriggle out of pretty sharpish to get into the bikini!

Books: Various
I won’t be wearing these, don’t worry, I’m not going mad, but this is definitively a day essential, I aim to get through as many books as is physically possible, or at least all that is in my suitcase.

Obviously I have more clothes that this, they’ll feature in many pictures when I get back, I’m not just spending the entire time in these few pieces, that would be pretty skanky otherwise!

What are your holiday essentials? Am I missing anything?

Bye Bye,

Bassline Junkie

“Big dirty stinking bass, dirty stinking bass...”

This post’s TUNE comes from Dizzee Rascal... again. What can I say, I just love a bit of dizzee. This song is unbelievably good, I love how raw his voice sounds against the track, all dizzee’s vocals never sound over produced, I’m sure the man just doesn’t need it! I think I have now played this song to death and am probably solely responsible for all the youtube views for this song. If you would like to beat my attempt, you too can watch the video here, and visit his website here.

p.s. the lyrics are a bit more fruity than the radio friendly edit, just saying... however, the video is so good that you shouldn’t let it put you off...

Let it drop....

Skirt: River Island via Ebay (£4.00)
Top: Topshop (old)
Tights: Primark (£2.50)
Chain: Ebay (old)
Shoes: ASOS (old)
Jacket: New Look (old)
Bag: Peacocks (old)
Watch: Urban Outiftters (old)
Braclets: Topshop (old)

Ah remember back in the day when we all used to wear denim skirts (not the mini denim skirt, I really hate them at the minute, we’re not going for the Avril Lavigne look here), well I figured I would attempt to bring them back. I used to have one this style and shape but it was a really dark denim, I blinkin’ loved it, however, seen as it was many a year ago it was chucked away, never to be worn again. Of course, I do accept that the chances are that said skirt would probably not fit around my ass these days anyway as I am prepared to accept that I have indeed got bigger since I was a teenager.

Anywho, I thought I was combine the whole 90’s with the 60’s (no I wasn’t around then, I’m not that old), and go for a bit of a hippy look with my flowery top and my suede jacket. I dunno if it works, I don’t care, I like it, I wore it out and I didn’t get any funny looks or outraged remarks so I assume it’s not too offensive to the eye.

I will continue to wear my bargain skirt (only £4.00 in total from ebay) until it comes back into fashion. Are you listening Topshop, I want you to make long denim skirts again so I can pretend to be cool and ‘down with the kiddies’. Ok, I’m glad thats out of my system.

It’s Monday again, the dreaded day, however, this week is a three day week for me, yeyyyy :) happy days. Any plans for the week people?

Cheerio,

The Double Flick

Now, before you start, this is not an offensive post about putting fingers up and the such... just stop that kind of thinking right there!

Lets start again shall we, tut tut..

Every day I pretty much wear my makeup exactly the same, throw on some concealer, bit of powder, a truck load of blusher, eyeliner and some mascara and bish bash bosh, job done!  But sometimes I get a bit bored of doing the same old thing so this year I plan to branch out a bit.  Now I’m not saying that it will always work, but by damn I will give it a go!
So...

Yup, I’ve just given the eyeliner a bit of a tweek.  Hell, everyone loves a good eyeliner flick, especially me, I can’t get enough of it, so why not double the fun.  It’s essentially just your normal eyeliner, but with an extra flick at the ends.  I think it’s pretty cool, it gives the impression of extra long eyelashes at the ends, which is always good!

Let me know what  you think, will you be rockin’ this look any time soon, and if you do, please send me a pic, I’d love to see it!!
Boom Boom Boom,
